NOTS Logistics Commemorates 40 Years Serving Southern Illinois
Business, Community Leaders Celebrate Success of Local Family Company with Regional Impact
NASHVILLE, IL (July 1, 2021) — NOTS Logistics, a third-party logistics provider (3PL) in southern Illinois, today is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a ceremony honoring the people that have helped build the business and the region it has called home for four decades. Leaders from across southern Illinois came together at NOTS Logistics Headquarters in Nashville to celebrate the milestone and honor the memory of its founder Tom Kirchner, who passed away earlier this year.
NOTS Logistics was founded by Kirchner in 1981 with one truck and a vision support regional businesses with quality service and staff. Today, NOTS Logistics is a critical part of the supply chain for businesses across the U.S. with more than 4-million square feet of managed warehouse space and 600 employees in multiple states including 175 in Washington County.
Tom’s son and CEO Andy Kirchner honored the legacy of his father and the business the family built by sharing memories and looking toward what he hopes NOTS future impact to the local community will be.
“After 40 years, we continue to evolve and progressively move the company forward based on the needs of the industry and our customers,” Kirchner said. “Our relationships and service model are what’s kept our business thriving. We will continue to adjust with the trends of the industry and the needs of our partners to ensure the future of NOTS Logistics for our family and the community.”
As part of its 40 years in business, Kirchner highlighted NOTS Logistics’ continued growth, noting the most recent expansion project- adding 216,000 sq/ft of the state-of-the art warehouse space to its sprawling Nashville campus. The new warehouse not only provides capacity to the Midwest region’s supply chain but also adds to the Nashville and Washington County commercial tax base.
“I want to congratulate NOTS Logistics for being in business for 40 years and helping strengthen our local and state economies,” said Congressman Mike Bost. “I ran my family’s trucking company for 10 years and understand how tough and demanding this career is, which is why I have fought in Congress to make our roads safer for both truckers and non-commercial drivers alike. I wish you all the best and continued success in the future.”
“I have known and watched the Kirchner family trucking business expand since they started south of Okawville,” said State Representative Charlie Meier. “It is amazing to see this family working together and building a supply chain powerhouse here in Southern Illinois. NOTS Logistics has attracted many new businesses, even some international business. NOTS Logistics is one of the economic engines that keeps Washington County at the lowest unemployment rate in the state of Illinois. Thank you for the last 40 years and I look forward to watching your business continue to grow and support the region.”
In addition to providing local jobs and a growing and steady impact on the local economy through tax dollars, NOTS Logistics’ leadership is engrained in the local community and year-over-year the company supports the area through charitable giving. In the last decade alone NOTS Logistics has given back over $1M to the communities it serves including the Red, White, and Blue initiative to support first responders, as well as donations to local schools, non-profits and various community events.
“It has been incredible to witness their journey and see first-hand their growth. NOTS Logistics is a very big asset to this community, and we’re excited about their future as their success impacts the entire southern Illinois economy,” Nashville Mayor Ray Kolweier said.
As part of the 40th anniversary, Andy Kirchner unveiled a memorial to his father on the facility grounds to commemorate his legacy. The stone reads, “Thomas A. Kirchner: Founder, Friend, Family Leader. Visionary who established the foundation of our business and set forth examples we will always be proud to follow.”
